Project Overview
Wave Dynamics provided acoustic consultancy services for a major new hotel development in Dublin’s Liberties. The project comprises a new eight-storey, four-star hotel development on Fumbally Lane, delivering approximately 235 guest rooms along with associated hospitality and shared amenity spaces.
The development is designed to operate under an international hotel brand and forms part of the ongoing regeneration of the Liberties area, targeting both leisure and corporate travellers within a central urban environment.
Acoustic Consultancy Scope
Our work focused on delivering a comprehensive acoustic assessment to support the design and planning of this large-scale hospitality development. Key noise sources assessed included:
- Building services plant – rooftop and internal mechanical and electrical equipment
- Hotel operations – guest activity, circulation and servicing
- Commercial uses – café, lounge and co-working spaces at ground floor level
- Urban noise interface – interaction with surrounding city centre noise environment
Noise Impact & Mitigation
Baseline noise surveys and detailed predictive modelling were undertaken to assess both internal acoustic performance and external environmental impact. Particular consideration was given to the city centre location, proximity to tourism and nightlife activity, and the inclusion of mixed-use elements within the scheme.
A targeted mitigation strategy was developed, including:
- Acoustic screening and enclosure of plant and services
- High-performance façade design to control external noise ingress
- Internal sound insulation between guest rooms and shared spaces
- Design coordination to minimise breakout from active ground floor uses
Outcome
The acoustic strategy ensures that the development can operate as a high-quality four-star hotel within a dense urban setting while maintaining appropriate indoor environmental standards for guests and controlling noise impact on surrounding receptors. The assessment supports the delivery of a modern hospitality-led scheme contributing to the continued regeneration of the Liberties area.

Jack is a Field Engineer at Wave Dynamics, supporting the delivery of environmental monitoring and acoustic consultancy services through detailed on-site fieldwork. He has hands-on experience in noise monitoring, vibration monitoring, and dust monitoring across a variety of infrastructure, construction, and environmental projects. Jack is involved in the setup, operation, and maintenance of monitoring equipment, ensuring accurate data collection in line with relevant standards and project requirements. He works closely with consultants and project teams, providing reliable field support that underpins high-quality assessments and reporting.
Aidan is the Director for all U.K Operations and has worked in multiple industries including for clients in the UK and internationally operating in the residential, industry, healthcare, education, and construction sectors.
