Air Quality Scoping for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
At Wave Dynamics, we provide specialist Air Quality Scoping services for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) projects across Ireland and the UK. With offices in Dublin, Wexford, Cork, Belfast and London, and a strong presence in Galway, we work with developers, planners and design teams at the earliest stages of project planning to define the appropriate level of air quality assessment required.
Our scoping studies help identify potential air quality risks, sensitive receptors and relevant assessment requirements, ensuring that the EIA process is proportionate, targeted and fully aligned with planning and regulatory expectations.
What is Air Quality Scoping?
Air Quality Scoping is an early-stage EIA process used to determine whether a proposed development is likely to have significant air quality impacts and what level of assessment is required.
It establishes a clear framework for the air quality assessment by identifying:
- Key emission sources
- Sensitive human and ecological receptors
- Potential air quality impacts
- Appropriate assessment methodologies
- Data and modelling requirements
By addressing these factors early, projects can progress more efficiently through planning while ensuring environmental risks are properly managed.
Our Air Quality Scoping Services:
We provide practical and proportionate scoping support, including:
- Air Quality EIA Scoping Assessments
- Development planning and EIA support
- Identification of sensitive receptors
- Assessment scope definition and methodology development
- Consultation support with planning authorities and regulators
- Construction and operational phase consideration
- Scoping reports and technical documentation
Benefits of Air Quality Scoping:
- Supports Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) requirements in Ireland and the UK
- Identifies air quality risks early in the project lifecycle
- Ensures assessments are proportionate and well targeted
- Supports planning applications and regulatory discussions
- Helps streamline the EIA process and reduce delays
- Provides clear, defensible technical reporting
