Ecological Air Quality Assessments
At Wave Dynamics, we provide Ecological Air Quality Assessments across Ireland and the UK. With offices in Dublin, Wexford, Cork, Belfast and London, and a strong presence in Galway, we help developers, planners and environmental professionals understand and manage the potential effects of air pollution on sensitive habitats, ecosystems and designated conservation sites.
Our assessments support planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA/EIAR) and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA), providing robust, evidence-based analysis to ensure potential impacts on biodiversity are properly identified, assessed and mitigated.
Independent assessments for planning, development and environmental compliance
Air pollutants such as nitrogen oxides, ammonia and nitrogen deposition can affect sensitive habitats and ecological receptors, potentially impacting vegetation, soil chemistry and species composition.
Our Ecological Air Quality Assessments evaluate whether emissions from a proposed development may affect nearby designated sites, protected habitats or other sensitive ecological receptors.
We assess:
- Potential impacts on designated conservation sites
- Nitrogen deposition and nutrient enrichment
- Ammonia emissions and acidification effects
- Road traffic and industrial emission sources
- Sensitive habitats and ecological receptors
- Compliance with environmental legislation and guidance
Where required, we identify mitigation measures to help avoid or reduce potential ecological impacts.
