Glint & Glare Assessments for Solar Developments
At Wave Dynamics, we provide specialist Glint and Glare Assessments for solar PV developments across Ireland and the UK. With offices in Dublin, Wexford, Cork, Belfast and London, and a strong presence in Galway, we support developers, planners and renewable energy consultants in delivering safe, compliant and well-designed solar projects.
Our assessments evaluate the potential for reflected sunlight from solar panels to affect surrounding receptors, helping to identify, assess and mitigate impacts early in the planning process. We support planning applications with clear, evidence-based reporting that meets regulatory and stakeholder expectations.
Glint and Glare Assessment Services
As solar energy developments expand, glint and glare considerations are an important part of planning and environmental assessment. Reflections from solar panels can potentially affect residential amenity, transport infrastructure and aviation operations if not properly assessed.
We assess the likelihood, frequency and significance of potential reflections using recognised methodologies and specialist modelling tools.
Our services include:
- Solar farm glint and glare assessments
- Rooftop solar PV assessments
- Planning application support
- Residential receptor assessments
- Road and rail transport assessments
- Aviation and airfield assessments
- Mitigation and design optimisation recommendations
Supporting Solar Development Planning
Our consultants evaluate the relationship between solar panel layouts and surrounding receptors, taking into account location, orientation and environmental conditions.
Our assessments support:
- Solar farm developments
- Commercial rooftop PV systems
- Infrastructure and transport projects
- Aviation safeguarding requirements
- Planning and environmental submissions
Where required, we provide practical mitigation strategies to reduce or eliminate potential impacts.
Benefits of a Glint and Glare Assessment
- Supports planning and environmental assessment requirements
- Identifies potential reflective impacts early in design
- Assesses effects on residential, transport and aviation receptors
- Supports road, rail and aviation safety considerations
- Informs layout optimisation and project design
- Provides clear, defensible technical reporting
- Recommends practical mitigation measures
