Wave Dynamics Acoustics Consultants (WDA) was proud to provide expert acoustic consultancy services for the refurbishment and extension of the iconic Clarence Hotel, situated in the heart of Dublin. This ambitious redevelopment will transform the historic hotel into a contemporary destination while respecting its rich heritage and urban surroundings.

The refurbishment will comprise 8,544 sq metres an increase the number of rooms from 58 to 162, and construction of a six storey extension. It will include a refurbished Octagon Bar, a stout bar and a contemporary music bar at ground floor level, as well as a gym and live music venue in the basement. The scope or work on the project included:

• Submission of detailed reports to support planning applications, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Development of an integrated acoustic design to ensure optimal sound insulation and room acoustics throughout the hotel.
• Tailored solutions for guest rooms, public spaces, and entertainment venues.
• Analysis of noise emissions from the refurbished bars, music venue, and gym to mitigate potential disturbances to guests and neighbors.
• Implementation of bespoke noise control measures to enhance the acoustic environment.
• Regular site inspections to ensure adherence to the acoustic design specifications.
• Final commissioning to verify acoustic performance and compliance with project requirements.
