Project Overview
The Fethard Primary Care Centre is a new HSE healthcare development in Co. Tipperary providing integrated primary and community care services for the surrounding catchment area. The building is designed to accommodate a mix of clinical and support functions, including GP consulting rooms, treatment and procedure rooms, therapy spaces, mental health services, and associated staff and administrative areas, arranged to support efficient patient flow and multidisciplinary working within a compact urban site context.
Our scope covered the building acoustic design, with particular focus on achieving appropriate acoustic separation between sensitive clinical spaces and higher activity areas, along with façade design measures to control external environmental noise ingress. Internal acoustic considerations included room-to-room sound insulation, control of building services noise, and ensuring suitable acoustic conditions within consultation and therapy spaces to support speech privacy, confidentiality, and occupant comfort.
The design approach was developed in accordance with relevant healthcare acoustic guidance, including the HTM 08 series, particularly HTM 08-01 for healthcare acoustics, which sets out performance standards for sound insulation, reverberation control, and speech privacy within healthcare environments.
